Founded in 2017 by producer Ali Mansuri, Foreign Material is a London based film production company.

Ali produced the Film London and BFI backed Balcony, directed by Screen Star of Tomorrow Toby Fell-Holden, which went on to be BIFA nominated and win the Crystal Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, the Iris Prize, and three best short awards at Academy Award qualifying festivals.

Ali is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts MFA film programme and an alumnus of Berlinale Talents and EIFF Talent Lab and was recently awarded with a John Brabourne Award and a 2020 Film London Lodestar Award for Producing.

Foreign Material's recent productions include Moin Hussain's atmospheric origin sci-fi short Naptha, funded by Film4 and Film London, which premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and went on to screen at Cannes Semaine de la Critique.

The company also produced the BBC Film and BFI commissioned Moon Under Water by Manchester writer-director duo GRANDMAS, featuring performance artist Blackhaine.

We are actively seeking projects and voices to develop and nurture at both short and feature level, with a focus on audacious and distinctive writers and directors.
